Know your risk.
Know your risk.
This month it’s all about the C word: no, not coffee. Cancer.
Did you know 1 in 8 American babes will be diagnosed with breast cancer some point in their lives? And 660,000 Australian babes have a high risk of developing ovarian and breast cancer - and many don’t even know it?
Melanie and Karni were once some of those babes. After their mum llana was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, Melanie and Karni were tested and discovered they carried the BRCA1 gene mutation, meaning they have a high risk of getting it.
Earlier this year Karni was diagnosed with early stage breast cancer. While this was devastating thanks to regular health checks she was able to treat the cancer while it was still in its early stages.
Which is why this month I want all you babes to #knowyourrisk sooner rather than later.
For the month of September, I am giving away all the profits from my Lip Duo sales to Pink Hope: a charity that’s all about supporting and preventing breast and ovarian cancer.
So gather your BFFs, this is some important information that every lady-babe should read.
How to find out if you're a babe at risk.
1. Know yo’self
Get to know how your body feels. Does anything feel odd?
2. Check yo’self.
Book a health check with your doctor every two years, if you're under 30.
3. Call yo’ mumma.
Know your family’s health history. Has anyone in your family had cancer?
4. Spread the word.
Put your best lip forward and get your BFFs to check themselves, too.
Big smooches to:
Wild Flos
Dann Event Hire
Pop Up Studio
Lune Croissanterie
Shanghai Suzy
And of course, Pink Hope.
None of this could've happened without you.
